The San Gabriel Valley, located east of Los Angeles, is known for its welcoming and traditionally suburban atmosphere. Pasadena is also home to the Jet Propulsion Lab (or JPL), CalTech and the Norton Simon Museum. South Pasadena is known for its quaint, small-town atmosphere, tree-lined streets, and strong sense of community. The small, top-rated school district is also a big draw for families looking for an excellent public school option. The city features well-preserved historic homes adding to its picturesque appeal. Further east is the city of San Marino, an affluent area known for its beautiful homes, excellent schools, and tranquil atmosphere. The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens is a world-renowned cultural and educational institution founded in 1919 by Henry E. Huntington. It spans 207 acres and attracts scholars, tourists, and garden enthusiasts from around the globe.

North of Pasadena is the quiet town of Altadena, located at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains with stunning natural scenery and numerous outdoor activities. This peaceful area is home to several popular hiking trails, including the Eaton Canyon Trail and the Mount Lowe Railway trail, providing opportunities for hiking, biking, and enjoying nature. Moving south to Alhambra, this city is known for its rich diversity and vibrant cultural scene. The city hosts various events and festivals throughout the year, such as the Lunar New Year Festival and annual Concerts in the Park at Alhambra Park Bandshell. Devout Foodies know that the city offers a wide array of options along Valley Boulevard, particularly renowned for its excellent Asian cuisine. Architecturally speaking, Alhambra features a mix of those same historic homes that Los Angeles is known for, including Craftsman bungalows and Spanish Colonial Revival houses.
